Updates to the wheels and suspension of the 2021 Chevy Silverado HD have increased its towing capacity. Trailering innovations make this full-size truck tougher and easier to drive than ever.
By beefing up the wheels and suspension, Chevrolet was able to increase the trailering capacity of the Silverado HD by 500 pounds. This brings the towing ability of the full-size truck to a whopping 36,000 pounds. To get this heavy-duty power, consumers will need to choose the regular cab, two-wheel-drive Work Truck trim with a dual-rear-wheel setup as well as the Max Tow Package, which the 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
New Trailering Technology
Chevrolet has added five new features to its trailering technology lineup for the Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD for 2021. These assists let you know the length of the trailer, warn of an impending jack-knife situation, display a view of the rear cargo bed as well as enhanced views of the side and rear of the truck and trailer. These features, along with a segment-leading 15 camera views all around the vehicle help to make hitching up so easy you can do it by yourself. A smartphone app also lets you check on brake levels and tire pressure without getting out of the truck.
