The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will offer an all-new turbo-diesel engine, which will give the Silverado 1500 unprecedented fuel economy, clocking in at 33 mpg highway when equipped with front-wheel drive.* With four-wheel drive, the Silverado gets 29 mpg highway, and both FWD and 4WD models achieve 23 mpg city.*
The new engine is a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel, with 277 horsepower and torque and 460 lb-ft of torque. Towing is rated at 9,300 pounds and payload at 1,870 pounds, making it one of the most powerful light-duty pickup trucks on the market.
This Duramax turbo-diesel is the first diesel engine to be offered in a light-duty Chevy truck in over 20 years. Chevrolet wanted to provide drivers with a combination of refinement and practicality, with excellent capabilities, durability, and efficiency alongside the quiet, comfortable interior and uncompromising handling.
Fully redesigned for the 2019 model year, the new generation of the Silverado 1500 provides up to 89.1 cubic feet of cargo space, innovative bed features like the industry-first power up/down tailgate and easy-access additions like larger CornerStep footwells. It also boasts best-in-class standard cargo volume, bed length, and bed width.
The 2020 model delivers all those same brilliant features and capabilities, plus the turbo-diesel engine with fuel economy that lets you make fewer stops at the pump.
