The 2020 Chevrolet Blazer is adding a range of features to improve power and performance for car buyers. For those looking for better driving dynamics, efficiency, horsepower, and torque, the addition of a new LSY 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine makes this model more appealing than ever. While not all the details about the 2020 model year have been finalized, this new 2020 Blazer engine is highly anticipated.
According to The News Wheel, the current 2019 Blazer comes with two basic engines, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque and an optional 3.6-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. These are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. With the new 2.0-liter I4 LSY option, power and efficiency are expected to improve.
“The LSY engine is GM’s newest turbo-charged 2.0-liter engine succeeding the 2.0-liter LTG. It uses an innovative tripower valvetrain and dual-scroll turbocharging technologies to help optimize performance and efficiency in all driving conditions,” writes Alex Luft at GM Authority.
The LSY engine has peak torque available from 1,500 to 4,000 rpm, which means responsiveness will greatly increase. Plus, with a twin-scroll turbocharger design, low-speed torque deliver is expected to be better than normal for most turbocharged engine designs.
When it arrives, you’ll be able to find the 2020 Blazer at Hirlinger Chevrolet.
