We are still a few months out from the release of the new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 diesel model. As of now, we still know very little about this truck’s specs, though Chevy has revealed a few facts and GM Authority has the inside scoop on some rumors.
First, the confirmed facts: The 2019 Silverado diesel model will be powered by a new 3.0-liter Duramax® inline-six engine. This engine will be linked to a GM 10-speed automatic transmission. Mark Reuss, GM’s product chief, promises that this engine will be the best-performing diesel in the segment.
And now for the juicy rumors. GM Authority reports that this Duramax diesel engine will be available on select Silverado 1500 trims: LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country. Rumors also say that this engine will crank out 282 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque.
Other sources, such as TFLTruck, have written that the 2019 Chevy Silverado Diesel could be able to tow up to 7,800 pounds and achieve up to 28 miles per gallon on the highway, but it’s still unclear how accurate these reports are.
Amid all these rumors, one thing is sure: Here at Hirlinger Chevy, we can’t wait to offer our customers the new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 diesel model!
